The rolling dust was not a dream
I felt the earth shaking under my feet Billowing in the sky, with filth and pain The turning knife cut deeper with a lie
Fever stalking from its lair Friend or foe, who go's there? Will you suck the life
From the rose in our care?
So hold this rose, this precious stem Tender in the hand where truth and beauty can extend
Hold it close don't let it go
Don't let it fall apart and rise when fallen hearts appear
Don't hate the man just try to understand his deepest fear.
Have you ever tried to see the light? Have you ever said a prayer?
Have you ever really found a god ? Or never ever really cared
I say this prayer to spread the word With everything I know
I say a prayer for the ragged rose
So what have we become?
Look what the love of god has done? He spawned the lie
And stole from under a blood red sun
